This is a small ledger of some 114 pages: 6_"W x 8"H x _" thick. It is in excellent condition. Most of the pages are used, and none are numbered. The book contains two inserts and vessel accounts of two schooners - the William Tyson (1856-1859) and the T. P.Hill (1862). Reuben R. Whelden (1829-1865) was the master of both. Reuben Ryder Whelden was the son of Miller Whelden & Anna Ryder. He married Susan Freeman Baker of South Dennis on 6 Aug 1863, but died of consumption 9 Mar 1865, leaving no children.
