Tucked in this is a scrap on which is handwritten: Old Cape Cod There is no land so dear to me, Where in my youth I trod, As that crooked arm bound by the sea, The sands of old Cape Cod. And this I ask when life is o’er, My soul return to God; My body lie on in its native soil Neath the sands of old Cape Cod.
