Description
Oldest Windmill, West Yarmouth; This is the Farris windmill of South Yarmouth, one of the builders of which was the last Indian in Yarmouth, Thomas Greenough. It was moved from the field behind the church in South Yarmouth (Mill Way) to Mill Hill in West Yarmouth, where this photograph was taken. It was purchased by Henry Ford and moved to his Greenfield Village complex in Dearborn, MI, where it still stands; for unknown reasons, at Greenfield it was placed atop a stone foundation and now sits about 8-10 feet higher than this original, and the original entrance is now way off the ground and cannot be used.Artifacts
