Description
Ellery Smalley’s Grocery Store, later D. H. Sears’ first store. Burned down in early 1900. Located where Bill Hodsdon house stands now. P. M. Crowell, D. H. Sears’ brother-in- law, bought out Smalleys store and set D.H. up in business. Then D.H. bought H.H. Sears’ store, corner of School and Center St. Later sold to Joshua Sears and his brother, T.W. Sears. He made ice cream and had a bakery in the summer. Mrs. Nate Black was the cook. Mr. Nate Black had a barber shop in the same building. When Sears & Sears went out of business, D.
